چکیده

This paper proposes a novel method based on pulse width modulation techniques to reduce and control the common-mode voltage in three-phase multilevel inverters. Besides controlling the common-mode voltage, this method is capable of controlling capacitors voltages and load currents with low switching losses and harmonic contents. In fact, due to the existence of different pulse patterns and the possibility of choosing the optimum patterns based on the most important criteria, the controllability of this method has risen properly. Furthermore, the controller randomly selects one of the optimum pulse patterns, which has another advantage of spreading the spectrum contents of the output voltage for low electromagnetic interferences and mechanical vibration. This method can be applied to a three-phase, three-level inverter with the flying capacitor topology. Another advantage of this method is that the technique can be applied to more voltage levels without significantly changing the control algorithm. The simulation results of a five-level inverter in this paper indicate that the proposed technique can be used to implement a multilevel inverter.

Two New and Novel Cascaded Multilevel Inverters with Less Number of Components Utilizing Series Submultilevel Inverters

In this paper, two new cascaded inverters are proposed, by using the series connection of new Submultilevel inverters. Each of the proposed Submultilevel inverters consists of three batteries and eight power switches. Four algorithms are presented to determine the voltages of these batteries for each of the proposed structures. In this study the comparison between the proposed structures with c...

Achieving Zero Common Mode Voltage and Improved Linearity Relationship by a Novel Modulation Method

Abstract—This paper proposed a new modulation strategy to eliminate common mode voltages in multilevel inverters. In this scheme which is explained for a 5-level modular inverter, all voltage vectors with zero common mode voltages can be classified into four categories and each two adjacent categories composed a segment. Synthesized voltage vectors that are an approximation to the reference vec...

Comparative Study on Various Unipolar PWM Strategies for Trinary DC source Multilevel Inverter

The need for high power apparatus in industry has increased in recent years. Multilevel inverters have developed as easy alternatives for such power requirements. Multilevel inverters consist of a group of semiconductor switches and a set of voltage source components like capacitors or independent sources. The basic concept of these inverters depends on using this series of switches and sources...

Comparison of Multi-level inverters by reducing common mode voltages and DC-link capacitor voltage balancing for IM drives

In PWM inverter-fed drives, a variation of Common mode voltage (CMV) causes unbalanced voltage operation in induction motor. Multilevel inverters reduce this problem, but the complexity of the power circuit increases with an increase in the number of inverter voltage levels. In this paper, a five-level inverter is compared with two, three and four levels and this five level structure is propose...
